The first Public History seminar on the women’s prisons of the Franco regime was held in September 2023 in Madrid as a result of the collaboration of several organizations committed to the memory of women.
The event was dedicated to the Madrid prison of Ventas (1931- 1969) and fulfilled its objectives of disseminating historical knowledge about the most populated women’s prison of the Franco dictatorship. The conferences and plenary tables gathered researchers, students, activists, and former prisoners from the last stage.
