Ventotene-Houjarray School on European Memories

European Elections in Focus | Spring sessions

The EUROM, the Jean Monnet House of the European Parliament and the Istituto Federalisti Altiero Spinelli organize the first edition of the Ventotene-Houjarray School on European Memories in collaboration with JEF Europe. The Spring sessions gathers 30 people including experts, scholars, practitioners and university students from different European countries with the aim of addressing the memory of the solidarity actions that led to a united Europe. Through lectures, workshops and hands-on activities, the participants will be acquainted with state-of-the-art research on memory studies and will gain tools for raising awareness on Europe’s past as the key towards informed choices for the present and future.

The Spring seminar will be held at the Jean Monnet House in Houjarray (Bazoches-sur-Guyonne, France), from May 21 to 25. The seminar will focus on the European elections, established in 1979, in view of the upcoming 2024 European Parliament polls. The Summer sessions will take place in  the island of Ventotene (Italy), from September 3 to 8, 2023.
