The struggles of Barcelona

The production involved nearly 20 witnesses of historical episodes of social struggle and resistance, including images of 15 differente archive sources. The movie covers the period previous to the Spanish civil war until nowadays, focusing on the occupation of the public space as a battlefield, a kind of arena where struggles took place to make visible the social problems and conflicts experienced at different historical moments.

Among other social struggles, the movie covers the  1919 worker’s strike; the republican demonstrations to stop fascism in the 1930’s; anti-Franco demonstrations under dictatorship; and feminists, anti-nuclear and pro-environmental movements of the 1980’s.
