The eighth edition of this advanced training program for Portuguese and Spanish teachers will take place in Lisbon from March 21 to 23, 2025. Over the course of three days, 28 educators will delve into the historical significance of the Holocaust as a starting point for discussions on contemporary human rights, democratic values, and the fight against antisemitism and other forms of intolerance.
The Holocaust remains a fundamental reference point for understanding the mechanisms of exclusion, discrimination, and mass violence in modern history. This initiative seeks to foster a Portugal-Spain dialogue, strengthening regional cooperation in memory policies and Holocaust education. By doing so, it ensures that history remains a vital tool for promoting tolerance, inclusion, and democracy. Its goal is to facilitate cross-border dialogue on Holocaust education and memory policies, equipping educators with the knowledge and tools to address these critical issues in their classrooms.
This advanced training program has been organized by the Mémorial de la Shoah since 2016, in collaboration with EUROM, Memoshoah, and the Government of Catalonia.
