BTV broadcasts a roundtable to discuss the announcement of the National Day in Memory of the Victims of the Civil War and repression of Franco’s dictatorship

Barcelona, October 16, 2016 – A roundtable organized by the local television BTV discussed the announcement of the Government of Catalonia to proclaim October 15 as National Day in Memory of the Victims of the Civil War and repression of Franco’s dictatorship. October 15 coincides with the anniversary of the execution of the president of the Generalitat Lluís Companys. In this context, the Parliament of Catalonia will discuss, for the first time, if declaring null and without legal effects all the francoist war councils.

Invited experts were Francesc Xavier Hernández, historian and professor of social science teaching at the UB; Anna Miñarro, clinical psychologist and co-director of research Psychic Trauma and intergenerational transmission; and Jordi Guixé, PhD in contemporary history and director of the European Observatory on Memories.
