Diversity of Memories and Citizens’ Participation

Taking Stock of European Memory Policies 2024

The 7th edition of our annual meeting “Taking Stock of European Memory Policies” will delve into the diversity of memories and citizens’ participation, focusing on the priorities set by the European Commission and the latest resolutions adopted by the European Parliament. The one-day conference is organized in collaboration with the Maison Jean Monnet and will be held at the Info Hub of the European Parliament in Brussels on October 30, 2024.

The event aims to spotlight the advancements in recognizing and promoting Europe’s diverse memories. Special attention will be given to the histories and experiences of the LGBTIQ+ community, the Sinti and Roma people, and persons with disabilities. Discussions will tackle the ongoing challenges in fostering greater citizen participation, with a particular emphasis on youth engagement.

The conference is to be a key platform for experts, policymakers, and citizens dedicated to creating a more inclusive and participatory memory landscape in Europe.
