This international seminar aims to add a new perspective to the recent investigations on the Mediterraneum, an intercultural and transnational zone that has not always been recognized as a field of study.
To mark the beginning of the cycle of activities for “MediTerraneum: a historical perspective of the relationships between Europe and the Mediterranean regions”, promoted by Casa de Velázquez (Madrid) and theInstitut Universitari d’Història Jaume Vicens i Vives (Universitat Pompeu Fabra), the seminar will gather directors of centers dedicated to the research of the Mediterranean , as well as researchers, lecturers and professionals working on the history of this region. The purpose will be to discuss the setting of the Mediterranean’s historical dimension, its place within European investigations and finally, to analyze the discourses that were built and transmitted about it in our societies.
