From July 15 to 29, 2025, forty young people will take part in a formative journey through the landscapes of memory, retracing the paths of Republican and civil exile across Navarre, Catalonia, and southeastern France. This will be the fifth edition of Ruta al Exilio, an educational expedition organized by the Spanish Youth Institute (INJUVE), the European Observatory on Memories (EUROM), and the Navarre Institute of Memory.
This fifth edition invites participants to explore how music, poetry, and oral testimony shape our collective memory and identity, an invitation to “listen to the earth”—to recognize the sounds of memory that still resonate across generations. The songs of the Second Republic and the Spanish Civil War continue to echo through popular tradition. The poetry of the Sinsombrero generation inspired those who found in their verses a call to hope, resistance, and commitment. And the voices long silenced by decades of repression have become a shared outcry for historical memory. This journey affirms that memory is also voice, music, word, and poem.
