- International Women’s Day has been settled on the path of important fights for women (and human) rights at the beginning of the 20th century. It currently marks a global call to action to ending all kind of gender discrimination
- March 8 was officially recognized by the United Nations in 1975 as a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women and is part of the UN annual campaign’s calendar since 1996. In 2017 and 2018, women from over 50 countries took the streets of their cities in an International Women’s Strike that is expected to repeat in 2019
