Dissonant Heritage Online Agora

Developing an Inclusive Process for Communicating Dissonant Heritage

On 28 May 2025, over 100 heritage professionals, researchers, and cultural practitioners from more than 15 countries will gather virtually for the Dissonant Heritage Online Agora—a landmark event dedicated to confronting and communicating Europe’s most complex historical legacies.

Hosted by the Buzludzha Project Foundation as part of the project Developing an inclusive process for communicating dissonant heritage, this half-day online forum offers an opportunity for mutual learning, cross-border dialogue, and the exchange of best practices in dealing with dissonant heritage—those contested, painful, or politically charged elements of our shared past.

Agenda

The Agora is structured into three dynamic sessions:

  • Session 1: Presentations
Featuring the debut of the “Toolbox for Integrated Approaches to Dissonant Heritage”, a practical guide developed through two major European research projects.
  • Session 2: Interactive Workshops
Hands-on discussions and collaborative learning on inclusive communication strategies.
  • Session 3: Marketplace
A showcase of 14 dissonant heritage projects from 10 countries, offering participants the chance to present, network, and exchange ideas in an open format.
