“All along the watchtower” is a multimedia performance commemorating the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall (1989) and introducing the memories of the German reunification (1990) from collective and personal memories. Promoted by the European Observatory on Memories (EUROM), the show was conceived and produced by a multidisciplinary group of artists based in Berlin, all of them born and raised in the former German Democratic Republic (GDR). It takes as a starting point the song All along the watchtower (Bob Dylan’s version), and reviews the hymns of resistance and struggle, declares the poems of hope, survival, and those of disappointment. Using direct and suggestive images of the walls as a global concept, the show becomes a song of desire for freedom.
