Since 2020, EUROM and the popular education project Versembrant have collaborated with Barcelona’s High School of Art La Industrial to raise awareness of Europe’s recent history through rap and urban art. The initiative, “Rap for Memories,” engages first-year students in workshops on rap and graffiti. The sessions focus on themes such as coexistence, tolerance, human rights, and social justice, connecting urban art to personal and collective memory. Each year, the project produces rap songs, a mural on the former La Model prison’s exterior wall, and a short documentary capturing the participants’ reflections. It is supported by the Barcelona City Council and co-funded by the EU’s Citizens, Equality, Rights, and Values (CERV) programme.
