Armenia, 100 years after the genocide

Photo exhibition and round table

The 24th of April 2015 marked the centenary of the Armenian genocide. With the aim to remember it, the European Observatory on Memories promotes this exhibition with photographs by Andreu Fernández (photojournalist) and text by historian David Devesa, produced by the City Hall of Santa Coloma de Gramanet. A roundtable will take place on May 21 to discuss the causes and consequences of the genocide with the participation of Armen Gabriel Sirouyan, spokesman for the centenary of the Armenian Genocide; Sarkis Hakobyan, representative of the Ararat association; David Bondia, professor of International Law at the University of Barcelona; and photojournalist Andreu Fernández.

The European Observatory on Memories aims to analyse and promote memorial public policies to remember and reflect on the traumatic events of the recent history such as the Armenian genocide, one of the most horrific episodes of the 20th Century.
