Free Women | Dones lliures

Theatre play | International Women's Day
  • The women’s struggle for freedom and democracy during the turbulent years of late Francoism is the backdrop for the theatre play Dones Lliures (Free Women)  which will be performed on March 8 in the framework of the central activities organized to commemorate International Women’s Day at the Monument Women’s Prison of Les Corts in Barcelona;
  • Written by Iván Campillo and brought to the scene by the company La Voz Ahogada, the text is based on the biographical stories of interns in the prison of Trinitat Vella during the 60s and 70s;
  • Highlighting the stories of political prisoners, the play also pays special attention to the criminalized minorities LGTBIQ +  and to the situation of the Roma community.
Promoted by the Future Monument Prison Women’s Prison Platform of Les Corts, with the collaboration of the EUROM (UB Solidarity Foundation), the Public Art and Memory project (HAR2017-84322-P) of the University of Barcelona and the Catalan Association of Political Expresses of the Franco regime.
