The University of Barcelona will host the international conference You and Me: Youth and Memory Engagement, bringing together 17 youth delegations from across Europe and beyond to engage in the crucial work of democratic memory on April 9 and 10, 2025. This gathering will serve as a dynamic platform for young people to share experiences, exchange best practices, and develop collaborative strategies to strengthen transnational remembrance initiatives. Through panel discussions, interactive workshops, and hands-on activities, participants will explore the pivotal role of youth in shaping memory policies and fostering a shared culture of remembrance across Europe.
Co-organized by the European Observatory on Memories of the University of Barcelona’s Solidarity Foundation and the Youth Council of the Spanish Government, in the framework of the commemorative programme “Spain in Freedom”, the event aims to create a space for meaningful dialogue and collective action, empowering young people to take an active role in preserving and interpreting history.
Delegations from countries such as Portugal, Ireland, Ukraine, Poland, Bosnia, and many others will present their innovative projects and initiatives, showcasing a rich tapestry of approaches to memory engagement. These presentations will highlight the diverse ways in which young people are contributing to the preservation of democratic values and the promotion of historical awareness.
