DESCRIPTION:This new course co-organized by the EUROM and the ICE-UB seeks to offer keys to teachers\, heritage educators\, technicians and touristic guides on how to use memory spaces as resources to enhance meaningful learning while promoting a democratic\, reflective and critical citizenship;  \nConceived from a European perspective\, it will allow participants to approach memory spaces and emblematic national and international institutions and learn from the experience of their professionals;\nThere are 30 vacancies available and the online registration is open until October 3.\n\nhttps://europeanmemories.net/eurom-new/wp-content/uploads/sites/19/2022/09/ESPACIOS-DE-MEMORIA-CURS-2022-2023-1.mp4\nGoals\n\nDevelop the capacities to design and execute proposals for civic\, critical and transformative education around memory spaces and historical memory.\nUnderstand and deepen the basic concepts linked to educational work around historical memory and memory spaces.\nIncorporate pedagogical resources and strategies that promote the civic\, critical and transformative nature of educational proposals around memory spaces.\nApproach memory spaces and emblematic national and international institutions to inspire us and learn from the experience of their professionals.\nGenerate spaces for dialogue between participants and speakers.\nAnalyze reference educational experiences that are carried out in different national and international memory spaces.\nEncourage collaborative work between professionals from different fields and nationalities.\n\nContents\n\nHistorical memory and memory spaces.\nHeritage Education. Resources and strategies to promote critical and transformative civic education through spaces of memory.\nDidactics of the heritage of the conflict and culture of Peace. Building from wounds.\nThe spaces of historical memory from a European perspective.\nLearning from one practical example: La Model former prison in Barcelona.\n\nMethodology\nThe methodology is based on active didactics and will seek to promote meaningful learning in the participants\, while adapting the contents and practices of the course to their interests and needs. A spiral curriculum will be followed to allow participants to delve deeper into the different topics through the interrelationship and practical application of the theoretical knowledge covered throughout the sessions. To this end\, reflection and debate will be enhanced throughout the reading of theoretical references\, the contributions of the speakers\, and the analysis of real experiences\, all the while proposing activities that allow reformulation of previous knowledge and consolidation of new ones. \nThe course is based on a Moodle workspace that will allow access to materials and activities\, as well as communication tools. Four of the five sessions will be held online via the Zoom platform. They will combine theory and practice\, in such a way that participants can consolidate the content provided by experts from different areas through dynamics and exercises. These will contribute to developing their abilities towards the final goal: designing a didactic unit or activity based on a memory space that motivates your students and encourages their participation and critical thinking. It can be visited until January 8 at the former prison La Model in Barcelona. \n

DESCRIPTION:The holiday season is just around the corner\, and we take the occasion to share with you a small gift: a new issue of our magazine\, Observing Memories.\nThis issue marks ten years since our project began. Vocation\, effort and professional conviction are essential qualities when dealing with sensitive and at times conflictive topics such as the field of memory practices and the uses of the past in contemporary societies. Without a human team\, and without a diverse and therefore intensely rich network of members\, this journey would not have been possible. We hope it will continue for many more years to come.\nMay you all enjoy a great winter holiday\, with our most sincere wishes for a new year full of solidarity\, health\, and lots of love.\n\n\n\n\nCover image: Wall painting “Human lives\, migrant lives” (La Model\, 2022)\, produced by the students of the Art Baccalaureate of the High School La Industrial in Barcelona within the transversal workshop “Historical memory\, Rap and Graffiti” organized by the EUROM in collaboration with the popular school Versembrant.  The painting has been coordinated by the urban artist Lucas Vico and was developed in parallel with the hip hop and rap music workshops the students went through in November and December 2021.

DESCRIPTION:Victoria Pujolar Amat was an anti-fascist and anti-Francoist fighter\, committed to the republican values of solidarity\, democracy\, and freedom\, a mother of four children who\, in her life journey\, went through wars and revolutions\, prison and exile;\nAs a female voice at the independent radio station ‘La Pirenaica’\, she fought for a more just world and kept fidelity to her ideas and her artistic vocation;\nThe journalist Elvira Altés Rufias has published her biography and will present it on February 03\, 2023\, in an act organized by collaboration the Association of Former Political Prisoners of Francoism in collaboration with the EUROM.\n\n \nAbout the author \nElvira Altés Rufias (Barcelona) is a feminist journalist\, professor of journalism\, and researcher specializing in communication and gender. From 2001 to 2009 she was director of the Women’s magazine of the Association of Women Journalists of Catalonia\, an organization of which she was a founding member and which she chaired from 2001 to 2003. Her research has served as the basis for denouncing the sexist representation of women in the media and the lack of female representation. Feminine and masculine stereotypes are models that are strengthened or weakened by the everyday experience of women and men\, and the media usually reproduce and spread social stereotypes without first questioning them\, denounces Altés. In addition\, women are often identified by their first names or as anonymous people in the news. Seduction\, beauty\, and physical attractiveness are the three graces identified with the feminine heritage. \nIn 2014 he carried out the study Protagonists and journalists in the media of the Balearic Islands\, commissioned by Ayuda en Acción with recommendations to advance equality between men and women in the media of communication.  In 2022 she was curator of the Year Victoria Pujolar Amat and signed the contents of an exhibition dedicated to the Spanish painter and anti-Francoist activist. \n
